    Looking for Mr. Swipe Right

    Looking for Mr. Swipe Right

If Valentine's Day is stressing you out because it's so hard to find a mate in your city, imagine trying to do that living in a zoo! Zookeepers in the Netherlands are bringing potential mates to a female Orangutan via Tinder! The only setback this far, and it's a doozy, is the fact that the tablet screen cannot withstand her swiping!! I'm sure you can relate to being similarly frustrated in the search for love! #ValentinesDay #Technology

    Gyro Cycle!

The new Leader of the Pack! When Daniel Kim was almost killed by a bio-diesel SUV he was working on, he realized we don't need that much car and the idea for the C1 was born! An amazing mix of sustainability of an electric vehicle that blends the fun of a motorcycle (0-60 in 6 seconds & the capability to reach 120 mph!) with the convenience and safety of a car (airbags & cargo space). The two heavy, dreidel-like tandem gyroscopes that spin very fast are what makes its awesome

Check out Amos Dudley's new $60 smile thanks to a lot of design hours and a 3D printer! Dudley is a design student and decided to try his skills at modeling and printing his own plastic aligners. Sounds like a lot of work and talent but check out his genuinely happy smile - totally worth it! #Christy #Technology #Cheapskate #Engineering #Science
A Month to Celebrate Flour & Noodles

A Month to Celebrate Flour & Noodles

March is both National Flour Month and National Noodle month. A two-for-one kismet! Here's a fun "how it's made" type video for ramen noodles. I love the long noodle machine and the ability to make so many different varieites! The basic recipe that Sun Noodles uses for ramen is flour, water, salt and kansui. Suddenly Pho sounds really good for lunch! #Christy #Fun #Technology #Cheapskate

National Tortilla Chip Day (aka Nachos for Lunch Day!)

Today is National Tortilla Chip Day, I know, can you believe it's here again already?! For all of you manufacturing engineers or other technology junkies, check out this video of how tortilla chips are made in a factory. If you don't have time to go get some nachos for lunch today you could also make #desknachos! Fair warning, this is exceedingly stupid so don't actually try any of this at work (or anywhere!) - if you get fired for doing this don't call us! #Engineer #Enginee
    3D Printing the Oscars

    3D Printing the Oscars

This Sunday is the 88th Academy Awards and the actual Oscar statue has been resdesigned to combine elements from both the 2015 statutes and the original 1929 art deco style. Making this possible was the use of 3D printing technology! Once the two styles were combined then a final 3D version was printed with wax. The wax version was then used to create a ceramic mold which was then used to pour the brass in, then they were coated in 24-karat gold. Some fun trivia to impress

    An Entry Level Electric Car!

Between yesterday's news that Mattel is putting out a $300 kid-version of a 3D printer, with an easy to use interface, and today's, that in a partnership with Radio Flyer, Tesla is releasing a kid-version of the Model S, I'm having some serious kid envy! I have a feeling that if I put this on my wish list I'd end up with something similar to... Oh well, for those of you fortunate enough to know a non-cheapskate Santa here's some more details: #Christy #Technology #Mattel #Te

    Dear Santa...

Mattel announced at the New York Toy Fair that they are going to be selling a 3D printer designed for kids! Which kids will you buy it for as an excuse to use it yourself?! Mattel has teamed up with Autodesk for the design portion of the ThingMakerDesign. There will be pre-designed items in order to learn and once you feel comfortable with the software, the sky's the limit for what you want to design! Reading about it was so intriguging but then I got to the part that mentio

    Presidential Technology

Happy Presidents' Day! Let's take a look at how different Presidents embraced the modern technology of their time: 1877: President Rutherford B. Hayes installed the first telephone in the White House. 1891: President Benjamin Harrison was the first to have electricity in the White House. Although he never touched the switch himself, he was terrified of being electrocuted! Perhaps funny now, but probably a very reasonable fear 125 years ago! 1909: President William Taft was
